'I Have A Dream - [A Manifesto]' was originally written December 23rd, 2019
I dream of a Church Body where the Holy Spirit is the guest of honour, the VIP, the CEO, the central point from which everything we do radiates.
I dream of a Church that worships in Spirit and Truth.
I dream of a Church that prophesies. That prays based on revelation from the heart of God.
I dream of a Church that moves from a place of rest in its identity as Beloved.
I dream of a Church that raises up the next generation of leaders in the way they should go, according to their individual, God given bend, through mentorship and empowerment.
I dream of a Church that lays hands on the sick and heals them by the power of Jesus Christ. A Church that tears down strongholds, sets the captives free, and casts out demons, bringing life to the barren places.
I dream of a Church that lives and breathes and has its being in the adoration of the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, understanding that all ministry must flow from this relationship with the Trinity, as empowered by the Holy Spirit.
I dream of a Church that believes Scripture is God breathed and can only be accurately interpreted by the Spirit and heart of God illuminating it.
I dream of a Church that honours all parts of the Body, and expresses faith by its works, in unity of the Spirit, each part doing its Spirit-led work.
I dream of a Church that demonstrates a functional family, regardless of sex, race, age, or gender.
I dream of a Church of strong fathers and mothers empowering joy-filled sons and daughters.
I dream of a Church that understands that when our hearts and eyes are set on Jesus, His grace empowers us to answer the call, with all the resources necessary.
I dream of a Church that understands the importance of both affirmation and confrontation, both praise and discipline, for healthy growth and maturation.
I dream of a Church that understands and values spiritual discernment.
I dream of a Church that walks in humility, love, and service to the world around us.
I dream of a Church that embodies good news, the Gospel, in heart and soul and body and spirit, expressing what they’re professing.
I dream of a Church that understands God’s value for the human heart and ministers to it in partnership with the Holy Spirit.
I dream of a Church that is willing to sacrifice the good for the Godly, the merely good ideas for the pursuit of the God ideas.
I dream of a Church that honours transparency and accountability, striving to be righteous in all its dealings.
I dream of a Church that understands the spiritual kingdom of God: that different Church Bodies have different mantels, anointing, and callings to walk out before God, and to honour one another in those unique callings, submitting to one another out of reverence for Jesus Christ.
I dream of a Church that understands communication facilitates relationship, and that without it there’s no relationship; communication is a priority, because relationship is a priority.
My nine-year-old says she dreams of a church…
Inside and out,
That has pictures of unicorns
A church in outer space...
For the aliens.
